THE WATER OF LIFE

Our design as humans by our Creator makes us living beings who cannot exist on our own. As a result of our fall from grace, we lost our fellowship and companion with our Creator, the only thing that made our essence and gave us completeness

Throughout our history from our fall till now, it has been the one pursuit of man to find something to replace that emptiness we always feel virtually from childhood to adulthood

Our pursuit to achieve fulfillment has resulted in us daily pursuing things that only give us more emptiness. Dear reader, if you have noticed, nothing really satisfies you.

No matter how desirous you may be to receive something, it takes a few moments for all that desire to dissipate giving way for a desire for something else or even more

Sometimes, we feel that if we got something, we wouldn’t need anything again in life but sadly, upon getting those things we crave for more. No amount of money will satisfy because you would want more

No number of friends can satisfy because at some point they will either disappoint or move on from you, no amounts of enjoyment can satisfy because dawn will come and the realities of your struggles will present themselves again

A job might sound like the end of your struggles but even that cannot satisfy because you would be bored at some point or would complain about your pay or even the distance you have to walk before you get to work

Marriage is good but even that cannot satisfy. You might get bored with your wife/husband after some years, the “love” will gradually dissipate because the marriage was based on physical appearance, quarrels and distrust may come after true colours are revealed

Nothing really satisfies then. Only our return back to our Creator, the original designer of our lives can fill our emptiness and wantonness. Only the original manufacturer of a gadget knows the reason for its creation and how it was made to perform effectively

Until we return to our Saviour who has been provided by our Creator and confess sincerely that we have tried everything to fill the void in our hearts and souls all to no avail, there is no way we can be free to live

We need God for He created us no matter who we are. Only He can fill that void that was created when sin severed us from Him. We cannot live outside of GOD when we were made to live as God

We will only be “existing” here on this planet if we choose to live our lives without God. We only “live” and “truly live” when we surrender our lives to God and find ourselves (our original purpose) in Him

We will enjoy the air for a time and then we will die without making any impact here on this earth if we choose to live outside of God. Dear reader, your life is worth more than bread and butter, clothing, parties, feelings, emotions.

If those things mattered more than knowing God, then why is it that those things you desired sometime back in life as if when you got them you would be happy for life, why don’t you remember or even desire them anymore?

Have you thought about it? The friends that you wanted to please, where are they now? The foods, drinks, parties that you so much desired, do you still desire them? Does your birthday still bring that thrill in you that it did some years back?

Such is the frailty of the pleasures of this world. They can never be quenched and nothing can satisfy that insatiable hunger and thirst for power, fame, amongst others.

Unfortunately, we are all on the run to find satisfaction to our longings. As such, we are willing to do anything even if it hurts others to get satisfaction even though we know it is just for a period of time

The rich will continue to oppress the poor in a bid to get more wealth. Some people will be willing to sacrifice themselves in other to get famous or even get the latest of certain devices and prospects

Dear reader, you have a decision to make this New Year. Will you want to chase the mundane things of this world that will never satisfy you and probably bring you more misery or will you return to the lover of the soul?

Only He can fill the void of your soul. Only He can heal your broken heart, only He can mend the rifts in your life, only He can give you the satisfaction and fulfilment that you can get nowhere else

I introduce the Lord Jesus to you. He told the Samaritan woman at the well in John 4:10: “…If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water”. Will you ask Him today to give you of this water of life freely that will quench all your thirst permanently?

He saith also in John 4: 13, 14: “… Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.”

He wants to quench your thirst of heartaches, disappointments, worries, anxieties, pressures, failures today but only if you will give Him a chance

WILL YOU DRINK OF THE WATER OF LIFE FREELY TODAY?

Our various personalities and upbringing in life have shaped us all in various ways. As a man of God once said, "we are the product of our experiences". Many things in life that have happened to us have either made us strong or weak, feeble or strong, even self-willed or dependent on God. We are all born into different homes with varying decisions to make everyday, different resources at our disposal and diverse personalities to demonstrate everyday. No man is an island and as such, we are bound to interface with each other everyday at the workplace, in the school or even in the home. One interactions with each other demands that we sometimes "speak our mind", express our deepest emotion, advice the wayward, counsel the lost or even share our experiences.
