PRECIOUS JESUS, DON’T FORGET ME



Many times the troubles of this world and the perilous times we face make us as humans to forget that there is a Creator of this universe who deserves our respect and reverence

Just like the waves of the sea which neither cease nor stop whether in the dry or wet season, so are our challenges that we face every day. Every day presents different struggles, prospects of new beginnings, mountains to climb, valleys to cross, crossroads to choose and mazes to navigate through

We endure these hardships for so long a time that we give up hope of ever finding a solution or finding a dependable help in time of need. The systems of this world have also not been kind as everyone’s mind is tuned to solving their own problems to the neglect of the one who doesn’t have any helper

Along the path of life, many are forced to give up due to no fault of theirs but that the hardships, the pains are too much to bare and there is seemingly no one to help them. They feel no one loves them enough or cares about them and so they take their own life. Others resort to stealing from others so as to be able to survive for even a day

Many are forgotten by their friends because they are not of the same academic or financial standard as they are. Others are forsaken by families because they have been a disappointment in life by not attaining riches or marrying the woman the family proposed. Many are forgotten by their nation even though they give their lives daily in service to the nation

Many unfortunately have also forgotten their greatest lover of their soul. The one who laid down His life so that they might have life. The Creator of the universe and everything in it. Man’s hardships, struggles, pain was brought about when we forgot about our God and our woes will continue to manifest as long as we still turn a blind eye to the fact that we have forgotten about our God.

Through all this turmoil and heartbreak here on earth, our Creator has not forgotten us. He is not willing that we will suffer here on this earth and go to a bitter eternity of suffering. His word counsels, that as long as we accept that we have forgotten Him and return to Him in repentance, He will forgive and accept us and our hardships will be over

Many are the decisions we have to make, many are the mountains we have to climb, many are the valleys we have to cross, many are the storms we have to sail through but, we cannot achieve all these if we continue to forget our God.

If only our prayer as we read this will be, “I have forgotten you for so long, thinking I could do it all by myself. I have sailed into unchartered waters where my compass cannot guide me. My helm and hope is broken, the waves of the sea are tossing me to and fro, my sails are broken and out of commission, my ship is silently leaking, precious Jesus, don’t forget me”

He is ever ready to walk on the sea, to calm the waters by His word and safely take you to the other side. He is ever ready to rescue the repentant and set him free from the trials and difficulties of this life only if the repentant is willing not to neglect His Creator again

The trials of this world may have wounded you, the seas of this world may have swallowed you whole, and you may be gasping for breath, possibly at your wits end. You might even be thinking of giving up, ending your life possibly but I tell you Jesus cares. He has not forgotten about you, not for once. No matter how deep you have fallen in sin, he will lift you up from the miry clay and set your feet upon the rock

Let this be your resolution, to seek the Lord while He may be found, to call upon Him while He is near, to forsake your evil ways and thoughts and return to the lover of your soul and He will abundantly pardon and forgive you. Every day of your life, tell him, “PRECIOUS JESUS, DON’T FORGET ME”. As I walk through this pilgrim land, please be a friend that walks with me daily, lead me safely through the sinking sand that seeks to drown me, help me do the best I can and that you need His light to guide you day and night. He never sleeps nor slumber. He is faithful and He will watch over you.

Our various personalities and upbringing in life have shaped us all in various ways. As a man of God once said, "we are the product of our experiences". Many things in life that have happened to us have either made us strong or weak, feeble or strong, even self-willed or dependent on God. We are all born into different homes with varying decisions to make everyday, different resources at our disposal and diverse personalities to demonstrate everyday. No man is an island and as such, we are bound to interface with each other everyday at the workplace, in the school or even in the home.
